What is SQT bio microneedling?

What it is

SQT bio microneedling uses sponge spicules — microscopic natural structures from freshwater sponges — applied to the skin, rather than a needling device.

It sits in the same broad family as microneedling but is a different method of delivery, without a machine.

How it differs from standard microneedling

The delivery is the difference. Standard microneedling uses fine needles in a device to create controlled micro-injury. SQT uses spicules applied to the skin's surface instead.

That changes what the appointment feels like and what recovery looks like. It does not make it suitable for everyone, and it does not make it a replacement for microneedling where microneedling is what your skin needs.

What to expect

Most people describe a prickling or tingling sensation during and after application.

Light flaking or peeling over the following days is common.

Whether this suits your skin, how many sessions to plan for and how far apart, are all decided at your consultation after an assessment. Those answers depend on your skin, not on the treatment.

Who it may not suit

Active inflammatory acne, a compromised barrier, eczema or rosacea flares, recent sun exposure, recent treatments elsewhere, and some medications all change what is appropriate. Sometimes the answer is to wait, or to treat something else first.

We assess before we recommend — see what we will and will not treat.
