Double chin consultations in Auburn
A consultation to discuss fullness beneath the chin and concerns about lower-face contour.
Submental fullness — the clinical term for it — has several possible causes, and they do not all respond to the same thing. Assessment is about working out which you are dealing with.
Concerns people come to discuss
- Fullness or softness beneath the chin
- An undefined jawline
- Loss of contour in the lower face
- Changes in the area with age or weight change
- Profile appearance
What happens at your consultation
Your consultation is with Precilla Sharp, a Registered Nurse. It takes about 30 minutes.
- We talk through what is bothering you and what you would like to change
- We review your medical history, medications and any previous treatments
- We assess the area and your facial structure
- We discuss whether any option is appropriate for you, and what it would involve
- If something is appropriate, we explain the process, the recovery, the risks and what is realistic
There is no obligation to book a treatment on the day.
Why this page does not recommend a treatment
Australian advertising rules limit what a clinic may say publicly about higher-risk cosmetic procedures, and for good reason: what suits one person's anatomy and medical history may be inappropriate for another's.
So this page does not name a treatment, recommend one, or tell you what you need. It tells you what the consultation covers. What is appropriate for you — if anything is — is something that can only be established after an individual assessment.
Risks and considerations
All cosmetic procedures carry risk. Depending on what is discussed, these may include bruising, swelling, tenderness, asymmetry, infection, an unsatisfactory result, and — less commonly — more serious complications.
Suitability depends on your medical history, your medications, your anatomy and your expectations. Some people are not suitable candidates, and some concerns are better addressed by a different kind of practitioner altogether.
Fullness beneath the chin can be driven by fat, by skin laxity, by muscle position, or by underlying bone structure. Where the cause is laxity or structure, treatments aimed at fat will not help, and the honest answer is to say so.
When a consultation may not be the right next step
If the underlying cause is significant skin laxity, or bone structure, cosmetic treatment here is not the answer.
Significant recent or planned weight change is worth discussing before any treatment, as it affects both suitability and the durability of any result.
Questions people ask
Is this suitable for men?
Yes.
Can I get rid of it with exercise?
Submental fullness is often not responsive to exercise, but the reason varies, and it is worth understanding the cause before assuming either way.
Is there a cost for the consultation?
Yes — a $50 consultation fee applies. It is fully redeemable against a treatment or a skincare product purchased on the same day.
